Are you getting this with your original disks or backups? Also what media are you using for your backups (Ex. DVD-R/+R and Brand)?
I have found that some Philips drives have trouble reading some DVD-R media, as my v1.4 w/Philips reads everything I throw at it, but my v1.6 w/Philips has issues with certain DVD-R brands. Both drives where manufactured in the same year and month, so it comes down to the luck of the draw with the Philips drives.
