DVD Drive power/swap

The power cable for my Phillips lite-on is a male to male 12pin, with only 10 wires haha great.

Can I buy a 12v 12pin cable and then cutout two wires to make it a 10pin to power DVD drive?

Why don't you buy a replacement power cable from eBay or something?

There must be hundreds of them for sale/free lol.
