hi all

i have a old xbox with a hitachi 59 drive in it, i flashed it all went good i played one of my backups that i made and it worked. i tried to play it today
and when it started up the drive was saying reading and there was no game in it to read. so i got 2 old pcb boards same board 59 i had and i put the stock fw on one and the cfw on the other one . the stock one worked , so i tried the other one and it was saying play dvd so i turned the laser pods up a hair
and nothing so i put the pcb board with stock fw on it and now it don't work put the pods back where it was and nothing . i get unrecognized disc on the two boards . tried different lasers too

could i just re flash it and try that? i don't know what to do. i have other drives that i can swap it out don't know what ones that would work

thanks for any help......

Assuming the 59 was the original drive any other Phat drive will boot games, its best to use the same drive ie another Hitachi 47 if possible.

If you have other spare drives connect to your ck3 and stick an original game in until you find a drive that spins up nice. Flash that drive with the correct stock firmware (to match that drive) and your DVD key and test in the xbox to see if the game boots use the manual spoof option to paste the DVD key not spoof to source.

The actual steps will be covered in the jungleflasher guide.

Once you know it will play originals you can proceed to flash with the latest LT firmware (to match that drive) and your DVD key and test with a backup.

If it still wont play using this drive report back whats happening before you start tinkling with the laser. Maybe check the SATA and Power cables for damage and the area around the drive for loose metal shielding contacts that sometimes get dragged off the cage when removing the drive.

Cant comment on the madness you have experienced with the old drive but sounds like your tweaking might have killed the laser at the least.

Good luck
