DVD drive upgrade?

I'm going to purchase a mod chip.
My oem drive is scratching all my games and i wanna just start burning them to the Hdd.
my question is: does xecuter3 support a non oem dvd drive and if i go online live with my non stock new dvd will i get banned?

You can use a modded DVD drive in replacement to your Xbox OEM drive, but there's usually a lot of work to be done.

Check the tutorials on Xbox-Scene.com. Some can be modded to play originals, whereas others will only play backups/homebrew.

Finally, Xbox Live won't check your DVD drive (AFAIK!).

I own halo2 but i don't want to buy another dvd drive.. so i i loaded halo2 to my harddrive, and had my mod chip in, could i go online?

That way i could just burn the games to my hdd and not have to deal with playing original games from the drive.. right?

You cannot use Xbox Live with a modded BIOS - therefore, you would still need to run it with the chip off... which means you'll need a working DVD drive.

Yes, you can back up your Xbox games / DVD movies via the Xbox.

Yea, there's a nifty app called dvd2xbox which will rip all your games/dvds.
