you probably have a thompson drive. They ae huge pieces of sh*t so I reccomend buying a samsung 616f drive. If you are cheep and don't want to, you can tune up your drive and probably fix it. Inside the thompson drives, there is a little screw that when you turn, it increases the power of the laser. I would give you a link to the tutorial, but xbox-scene seems to be either offline now, or else this computer's stupid internet filter is blocking me. Anyway, its pretty easy, you just need a multimeter, small screwdriver, and something to scratch off/dissolve the crap that they cover the screw that you need to turn. You take apart the drive, look around for a little plastic screw thingy, use a multimeter to measure the resistance. It should be around 1200-1500 ohms. Twist the knob until it is around 800-900 ohms. The less your resistance, the more powerful the laser. If you go too low, I think 700 or lower, the drive gets really noisy. any lower than 600 and it starts to kill your dvd's. I will post the actual tutorial as soon as I can find it.
