DVD drives - any way of knowing which one you'll get?

High everyone, I'm planning on purchasing a 360 very soon. I was just wondering.. is there anyway to find out which DVD drive you'll be getting in your system before purchasing it? I thought maybe you could tell by serial numbers, or something.. Also, say I do purchase a system, and it doesn't have the drive I want.. I wonder if I'd be able to exchange it for another system? I'm thinking most stores wouldn't like this, but I guess it would depend where you buy.

Another question I have, is this: I'm most interested in the BenQ drive, because I've heard that it is the quietest, and others have said that it even reads games like Oblivion slightly better. My question is, is this drive flashable by software? I'd rather try and avoid soldering anything, if at all possible. Thanks!!

Any xbox manufactured between november 2005 and august 2006 will have either a samsung drive or hitachi drive that can be flashed. But there really is no way to tell until you buy the system and open the dvd tray to find out.

Also the hitachi v79 and the benQ cant be flashed via software.
