Hello again, for those of you who remember me, I was the guy that had a mouse living in his xbox not to long ago.

Well, after that little Episode, I resolved everything nicely :) And it's still working to this day rather well.

I'm at it again though, in episode 2, this time a friend of mine wanted a modded XBOX, I told him I could do it, and he sent it over to me, little did I know he had a 1.6 version ... man did I bite off more than I could chew.

I managed to soider the LPC rebuild, and I managed to connect all the HDD/D0/LAN wires to their proper locations, infact the chip itself fires up well - nothing's wrong with that, even the cromwell thing loads.

The issue i'm having is when I connect the HDD, and the DVD ROM, I have NEVER experienced anything like this before, and it has me baffled, as to why the DVD ROM won't open, in chip on mode, the cromwell bios detects the 10.43GB HDD, and nothing else. ReadAbleDevice not found.

When I switch OFF the Modchip, XBOX dashboard, crashes after attempting to load on a solid green light, for 30 seconds - I finally get some Tagotin language or something, saying "Service Required" along those lines.

I haven't yet flashed any bios on either of the 2 banks of this chip, because I can't seem to get the damn DVD ROM alive so I can put a disk in it.

I'm at an incline at the moment, if ANYONE has any advice as to what the heck is going on here (Yes I tried multiple reconnections of the molex/IDE cables to the HDD's and the DVD ROM) - Please inform me.

Is it possible my solder job went wrong? and it's conflicting with the DVD ROM and nothing else? or is it something more serious?

I'm open to all suggestions, I need to get this fixed. Thanks in advanced.

P.S: Don't reply with "Check your d0 soldering." I see that as the immediate response to ANYONE"s mod issues. I don't want to see it myself, I know for a fact the d0's fine. I had to use a needle-pointed solder tip just to get the damn thing perfect.

No, I wish it were that simple. the DVD ROM has stopped functioning as an entirety, since my post I did some more troubleshooting, and discovered If I load the xbox without the chip enabled, I get a "Service Required" error, 07.

This is usually the HDD error, I tried both Master and Slave modes - and mind you this is the STOCK XBOX HDD, not a modified one, so I don't even know why I changed the damn jumpers in the first place. I guess out of desperation.

Anyways, as I said the HDD itself loads fine in cromwells, the DVD doesn't - the DVD turns on with the chip off, but the HDD doesn't load. and I still can't get the damn tray to open.

This is frustrating me to all hell ... I just need to know if i did a slopped solder job, and if I did should I just go back and redo the entire thing? Or because the chip is firin' up - that part of this issue is solved. It's just a hardware fault at the moment?

Alright, nevermind - enough trouble shooting + 7 years of electronic experience, I just went down to the barebones, it was a faulty IDE cable :p Nothing more.

Thanks for the help though amitm

I'll be back (trust me) I tend to run in to a lot of retarded errors.
