I'll post photos when it's done. I have started my own idea for a mod on my xbox, instead of having the dvd kit plugged into the front of the xbox and sticking out, I am attaching it inside the xbox, wired up to controller port 4 permanently. With the dark clear plastic cirle thing fitted into the front of the xbox case.

you should just put a lil switch on the back so that you could use the 4th port when you werent useing the dvd kit, it wouldnt be that hard to wire it up

Didn't know it had been done before. Oh well I'm still doing it. I'm gonna put the sensor "lens" type thing in a replacement panel over port 4 and port 3 will be a USB 2.0 socket.

also been thinkin bout doin this

i have been wantin to do this too. Mine will be a lil different though. I did the power/eject mod (reversing them, big is power, little is eject) after doing this i moved the power button onto the top of my box, the way my paint scheme works it is orange and white, the X being orange, and it has a white biohazard symbol on the front righthand corner of the X, so i put the power button and led ring in the middle of it. so i was thinkin about doin the DVD hardwire mod and puttin the black lens and ir reciever where the big button used to be.

Yeah I agree.
Another mod for my xbox is I'm adding a "power buton" led ring, and its connected to the x3 so when the x3 is on its blue, when its off its red. It's gonna look like it was made as standard. Good idea yes?

I got an idea. Why don't you crack open the dongle, and put the IR led in the IR slot of the X3 Pro Switch/X3CP? Of course you'd have to extend the leads, and still hard wire it, but thats a great location.

Hell, I'm gonna do that tonight, I don't care what you think. :p

To do the RAM upgrade, you desolder all four ram chips from a damaged or faulty xbox motherboard and then solder them onto the empty spaces on your working motherboard. Although I have read that you can't do this on a 1.6 XBOX.
