I bought 2 brands of dvd media (Comp USA and Verbiatin) and both of them dont work on my xbox. I get the dirty or damaged disc sign everytime i play these games. They start up fine though. I used Nero and Roxio and togled witht the settings and still i get the same result. Ive made backups on other brands of wirtable media before and have nerver gotten this problem. I use C-Xbox tool to make the xiso's and I patch the xbe's just in case. I also burn them at the lowest speed but still no luck. Can u suggest some good brands of writable media for a xbox or if there is a good program that is good at burning xbox games then please tell me that too. And if u have anything else to tell me that will help my problem the would be much Apreciative. Thanx in advance and sorry for the miss spelled words

Just use a toaster. put the original in the first slot and the blank in the second slot.

Make sure it's a 2-slice toaster - Xbox games aren't compatible with a 4-slice toaster.

Also keep the setting under 2 or you'll suffer 'overburn' - a common problem.

I suggest you read the forums for a real answer ;)

U Guys something weird happened. I told u guys that my xbox has problem with Verbatim discs, but I tried to backup a game on to one of them one more time, but insted of using simple iso and c-xbox tool (which i normally use) I used craxtion and made a multigame disc. Both games now work flawlessly, so was my iso creating program the problem????

The only things you need to backups games are:

PC
Modded Xbox
Network cable
Qwix.

Without knowing what you're doing with Simple ISO and C-Xbox tool, I don't know. Personally It's overkill. Craxtion will do job too, so looks like you found something which works.

Sort of on topic.

I recently replaced my dvd burner (warranty issue). It was replaced in kind.

So the issue is that I cannot burn dvds that are readable in my xbox on the new drive. Sort of.

I used Sony dvd+r's on the previous drive before replacing it. They worked fine.

After replacing it the sony dvd+r's do not work when burned with the new drive.

I had one memorex dvd+r left over so I tried that in the new drive. It worked fine. So I went out and bought Memorex dvd+r's. Now I tried to burn one on the new Memorex dvd+r's and no luck.

Do I need to burn at a low speed? 1x-4x? The disc are 16x and the last batch was 8x i think.

Any suggestions?

What's the exact model number (check in Device Manager)?

The book-type can be changed with software like DVDInfoPro. Ideally you want it set to DVD-ROM.

The book type is what defines the bit settings for your DVD+R/RW/ DL.

The reason why DVD+R is superior is that you can change most drives to write in DVD-ROM format, making them VERY compatible with all Xboxes.

DVDInfoPro is the tool to use to see if you can change the booktype of your DVD+ writer to DVD-ROM (particularly useful for DVD+R DL drives).

Mine is a dual layer burner. I shall look for this dvdinfopro. My old one worked but who knows. If I change the book type will I have to change it back to do dual layer etc?

Any instructions on how to do that?

I am just wondering because the old drive worked perfect. Same media, same model drive, just a different drive.

Sony 650MB 1-4X CD-RW & TDK 4X DVD+R work in my Thomson DVD Drive.
