Hi guys,

Is there anything special I need to do for the XBOX to boot from the DVD? I am trying to install from Slayer's Auto Installer and I keep going into the X3 config menu. I've disabled it from auto starting but it still keeps going into it. What's weirder is that if I put my friends already formatted and Dashboard installed hard drive in the xbox, it boots to evoX and if I select the option "Play games or media from DVD drive" it loads Slayer's Auto Installer menu. So I know its burned properly, it just doesn't want to autostart when booting. Is there like a boot priority screen in the BIOS?

Thanks for your quick reply. Just want to make sure...I have v1.6 of the XBOX with X3CE installed. Will that make a difference? Can I still put X2 bios on this machine?

Okay so I downloaded the X2_5035_V16PLus_512K bios as advised. But when I try to flash to either bank 56 (on off on off off) or 78 (off off on off off), the green bar gets half way done and then it just stops. I was able to flash the BIOS originally with the X3 bios so I don't think its the chip. I have tried over http and burning a disc, both methods stop half way during flashing.

Oh man...its like one step forward two steps back.

Okay, So I made sure the flash protect is off on the chip (light is red). I made sure flash protection is off on the switch. If I boot the system using the backup mode (power button plus eject) I get FlashBIOS 3.0.1 which is good. I swich the banks to 1234 (on on off off off) and I use http to download and flash the X3 with X3 3294 v16 plus. Great that works flawlessly. Now the stupid part. So I have the X3 bios installed and it works fine. I know do the same procedure, boot the backup mode, FlashBIOS comes up, I switch the banks to 56 (on off on off off) and I use http to upload the X2_3025_v16plus_512K like advised. I do this and I get the error unknown flash. Halting. I know this error indicates flash protect is on but its not, because I was able to flash with the X3.

But wait theres more, if I know boot from banks 5678 (Off on off off off) I get to FlashBIOS 3.0.3, and I switch the banks again to 56 (on off on off off), I try uploading the X2 bios, this time no error message, the file uploads, but stops half way while flashing. Is there a possibility the BIOS is damaged. I have redownloaded it twice from xbins and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I still can't flash the X3CE with the X2 bios. I give up. What I did instead is use X3Config to ftp just plain old evoX onto the C drive. Booted the system, and used the Launch DVD option from eVox to run Slayer's auto installer. Everything is cool now. Thanks to DJDOOBY for his input, much appreciated brother.
