I would just FTP them onto your harddrive, then it will be able to play them.

Wow thats a lot of avi's. Well you could get a Samsung DVD Drive if yiu have a Thomson or a Phillips, because the samsung reads almost any disc you put in it.

You can get one from ebay and all you would have to do is just swap it.

XBMC can play probably more codecs and files than your PC can. Your DVD's, are they compatible with DVD players or are they data discs? If they are data discs (avi's), then you need to burn them as an ISO disc from an ISO file because that's the only type of dat disc that your XBOX can read. You will need Qwix from teamavaluanch.com to create an ISO, nero6 and record now are good for burning ISO discs. Also, the dvd that you burn to has to be compatible with your XBOX's DVD Drive. If you have a Samsung DVD Drive, then it will read most discs.

no, he can burn a data disk with just movie/music files on it if he plans on using XBMC to play them, he just selects the files. Only for making game disks do you need to do anything special. The dvd itself however has to be one of the formats your xbox dvd drive can read.
