when i put a game in, it says a message like disc unable to be read..or something along those lines. i figured it would be a problem with my reader or something, and needed to be cleaned. however, audio cds work fine. ive asked around and searched for what to do and the only advice ive gotten was to buy a cleaner, which i did, and has made no difference. anyone have any suggestions or answers?

Stupid question - are you trying to read an Xbox DVD in a PC DVD ROM drive? Because thats not going to work - PC's dont understand the Xbox DVD format.

I am yet to try this myself, but to copy a game, my understanding is that you need to mount the disc in the Xbxo, FTP into the Xbox, and FTP the files to your PC HDD. Could well be wrong though - I dont have copies of anything I don't own ... and they are stored on my Xbox HDD, not backup DVDs.

I've had this problem in the past with a couple of xbox's that I've serviced. Now I don't exactly get it, but you need a new drive. Plain and simple. I know since it plays the audio it would only make sense to be able to play the game. However when I replaced the drive it would work like a charm. I wouldn't recomend the cleaning of the drive because its on the downward slope anyways, and its just going to happen more and more. If you want a new drive email me at [email protected] and I'll see what I can do for you.
