LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM DVD TRAY OPENS FAST AND SLOW.

just opened the liteon 16d4s drive up for a friend coz the tray was stuck open. placed tray bk on the rails hooked it up to the ck3i to make sure its working properly.

it seems to sometimes open fast then i close it then open it again and it opens slow like it should do. :crazy:
opens slow a few times then mite open fast once in every 5/7 opens!

any ideas why this is happening or is it normal?

1st time ive ever delt with a slim :rolleyes2:!!!

no totally stock fw never been opened .

putting it back together now to see if its ok.

seems to be working spot on, hasnt opened fast in 10 openings. it may do it again in future.

reads games fine.

if anyone does know why please leave reason why for future users to find! thanks..

Have you compared it to another drive of the same type? Maybe what you perceive as fast/slow is really normal.

Check the tray sensor. White/Yellow/Green wires. Make sure its clipped in correctly.

I had this problem recently, except it was opening fast every time, and would only close about 1 inch and attempt to read games. It was a stock drive, No kamakazi or anything.. turns out it was the tray sensor switch. it was shorted out. replaced and now works great.
