I bought a 2nd hand 'faulty' xbox with a tag of "disc tray jammed"
Of course I thought this would be the usual case of dust or a dried out drive belt.
The tray won't open when trying to manually open the gears. i opened it once and reset the gears, powered the drive and it opened once but jammed again immediately after. it seems like the gears dont turn enough to disengage the locking mechanism or that the slider which moves the tray up/down as it closes/opens moves too far to the right and runs off the teeth of the gear so it won't disengage. of course I can't confirm this with the tray still on.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try? I've thought about using glue and adding a small piece of plastic to the slider runner so it doesnt open far enough to move off of the last tooth of the gears but I wouldn't want to do that unless I was 100% sure that's what was causing the issue.
The paper seal was still perfect so no one else had opened her up - completely stock xbox.
thanks in advance
