I've got a question about dvd2xbox. When you copy an Xbox game to the HDD, it always creates a new .XBE file, and it renames the old one to "original.xbe". What exactly is the difference between the two?

I looked through the readme file and I searched around a bit but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

The new default.xbe has been patched so you can play the game from the HDD (but the game still thinks it's being played from the DVD-ROM). It's to circumvent a media check that a lot of Xbox games have to try to stop them being played from modded Xbox HDDs.

LOL... i remember when i tried to copy Fight Club with an older version of dvd2xbox, it would let me create a guy, but only play arcade. The funny thing was that in arcade, the opponent was pretty much invinsible and it only took 1 or 2 shots to get knocked out. Then i updated dvd2xbox, and it works fine now.

hmmm this is interesting as i have only ever used boXplorer to transfer the files across from d: to f:

However i have never come across a problem with any game i have played. Apart from the aforementioned fight club are there any other known games which have this protection built in, especially some of the newer stuff?

cheers
