I think i just stumbled into something. I am not claiming to be the first or anything maybe this was already done but i think i have a way to copy a game that is already on a dvdr to another dvdr without an xbox. This is what I did: I backedup an original from xbox to my mac laptop and created the xiso and burned it. Tested the game to make sure it works fine and so far so good. it works perfect so i decided to put the game back into my laptop to see what is the size of the DVDR info that is in there and I noticed that when i double clicked the drive i can see all the files in there. I put the dvdr into my pc and i can see all the files. They are the gamefiles no VOB or dvd movie files i see the default.xbe and dashupdate.xbe. so I decided to put a game i burned with my pc and i couldnt see any files on the disc I can only see them if it was a disc burned with a mac. I know that just because you can see the files dont mean you can duplicate and it will work because its the samething with a DVD movie it has encryption etc. What I am gonna do is try to do a DVDR to DVDR using my mac and see if the game plays. This is just something I happened to stumble onto. I hope i dont get flamed if this has already been talked about just that i found it interesting and wanted to share. I will update and to let you know the outcome. Thanks!

Ok I just tried it and it worked the DVDr to DVDr. Here is what I did exactly I own the game(yes I Own IT) OddWorld Munch's Oddysee so I decided to make a BACKUP of the game because it kept saying to check the disk because it was dirty This used to happen once a while so when it worked i decided to back it up so my brother can play the game . I Used my mac for this so I FTP into xbox and copy files from original DVD to a folder on desktop I tired this program called Xdisc for mac and looked thru the options and say that when you select create at the bottom there is an option to select "Clean .ds_store files from source folder" so i decided to try out another app to make the xiso instead i tried osXiso and when i made the iso and burned it it worked fine so i put it back into the mac and pc (the new created DVDr) and i can see the files on the DVDR and i saw the ".ds_store" file. The games created that have this file i can see what on the disc and copy dvdr to dvdr the ones made on pc dont have the .ds_store file and i cant see the files. I talked to some other people and they said u can do DVDr to DVDr using RecordNow Max even if u cant see the files on the DVDR. I just wanted to post my findings and maybe someone who is new can read it and try it out.

once you have a backup you can make as many backups as you like from it, Just go into Nero and select copy disc! Job done!

Your pc does not have to be able to understand whats on it i.e. read the ISO...for Nero to do a 1:1 duplicate of it.

The only way to get that 1st backup is ftp.

That's not entirely true:
How can I rip to my PC ?
Share one of your directories and give it a name (share name). Create a user and give him write and read rights to access the share. You have a second tab on WinXP in which you've to configure the access rights again. Test if you can access the share and write files on it. Open the dvd2xbox.xml file and put in your workgroup (domain), the IP of your PC, username, password and the destination share. Leave the network settings as they are as dvd2xbox obtains it from your dash. Now enable the network in the settings menu and you can start ripping by selecting «Copy DVD/CD-R to SMB share» at the main menu.
Unleash the power of DVD2XBOX!!

Thank you for all the reply specially the last one it sounds real good and easy once its setup just let it rip straight to pc with out having to log into the xbox. sounds a lot easier since all i have to do it run the dvd2xbox straight from the xbox. Thanks again for all the input and i hope anybody who is new to this learns from it and saves you a lot of time later one. Peace!

sorry floppy but i do not see the big difference, you still have to transfer the files to your pc via some kind of networking to create that 1st backup!

Sounds like the dvd2xbox facility is just an automated ftp program which sends them to a shared folder?

Please enlighten me some more if i am wrong!

I tried out DVD2XBOX once you setup the shared folder on the pc you dont need to ftp into the xbox select the files then use the ftp program to download these files, with DVD2XBOX all you need to do its run the app from the xbox put the game in and select xbox to smb share so you wouldnt need to log into the xbox. It was really easy to use and setup. you can also use it copy movies into the xbox and music so its a good app to have.

I agree with you Matty. It's more of a convenience option, I don't see it copying over to the PC any faster.
I just wanted to throw that option out there.
