I flashed my samsung 25 drive today, and I got the E66 error. Now I can't get it to flash again for the life of me.

I'm on an nForce 4 SATA and when I attempt to flash, I either get stuck at Port: 970, Master/Slave:a0 or I get

I've tried reseating the sata cable, all manners of MTKflash, and the such. I still have my orig.bin, but I can't for the life of me find a way to load it back onto my drive.

When I try to flash my thumbdrive again with XTreme Boot Maker, I get a "the drive is not ready for use" error!

HELP!

You need to use the 0800 disc to disable FirmGuard and reflash the firmware. I would suggest reflashing back to your original firmware first, get it just "working" to begin with. To do that, put your orig.bin on your flash drive and use this command at DOS:

mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin

Remember you still have to use the 0800 disc to disable FirmGuard!

Once the drive is flashed with the original firmware and working again, restart the tutorial from scratch. By the way, the reason you got the E66 was you didn't follow directions and use the update.zip containing the updated x360sam.

the directions are a bit off. the instructions in the pdf ask that you use samhack, while the xtreme bootmaker no longer provides samhack as part of the program itself. i think that's where a lot of the stuff went wrong.

i corrected this problem, but only through using mtkflash directly and not with xflash.

It should be somewhat difficult to get E66 using the new XBM. You select your drive version in XBM which should use the proper Xtreme firmware. If you dont, when you run xRead, samtool is run, which should also prompt you to copy your version strings from your orig.bin to your hacked.bin if they are not the same.

Also, its:

mtkflash w /m /sata orig.bin

to flash your original back.
