My friend brought me his old 2006 Xbox 360 to get it updated to latest LT 2.01. He has a samsung ms25 which is the original drive from his xbox. I flashed his drive back to stock and inserted my usb stick with latest dashboard. It prompts me to update, extracts and then goes to E66 error. Just for fun I flashed his drive to LT 2.01 and it has the same issue. I had a spare ms28 drive so I flashed his stock firmware to it and that drive gives me E66 as well. I've done this many many times but this is the first time I've seen the e66 error. Any ideas how to fix it?

Lol you do have a point. This is an old 2006 model that I'm honestly surprised hasn't rrod yet. I don't want to spend the time/money rgh'ing it just to have it rrod shortly afterwards.

e66 is due to bad fw

try this:

1. CTRL+C your key
2. load 2.01 fw in target
3. press manual spoof, paste in your key, press check, press ok
4. write to the drive
5. try to update

Did you try to put the m28 stock firmware from iextreme (not his) on the m28 then put his key and update?

I tried this using stock firmware from ixtreme pack, and both pre and post 2.01 but still get E66. This is odd...
