E71 error trying to update

Hi, not sure wether or not it's the right place to post, it's a bit of both really so please excuse me if it's in the wrong section.

Firstyl i have a banned Xbox which to took to someone to have RGH done. They were unable to get the nand dumps to show up as valid in whatever apps you use. Something along those lines anyway.

At one point it would only switch on and give a black screen but he managed to get it back to a normal working console.

When i took this console to him it had the latest 13604 dash on it and kinect was working fine.

Since i received it back it is still on 13604 but the avatars are greyed out.

I just tried to put a Kinect game on for the kids and it says a system update is required.

I first put kinect games in which i knew had the update on them but it never prompted to update.

I have since downloaded the official ms update and put it onto a usb stick. When i try to boot the console with the usb stick in it throws up an E71 error.

Is there any other way i can get the console to accept kinect again ?

Try the HDD in another console and have the update applied to it then move back to the banned console :wink:

Will it not take the sytemupdate straight off an original disc? Use a kinect game the update should be on it.

If i plug a HDD in off another console kinect works straight away.

As soon as i disconnect that, kinect wont work with any other memory unit in.

Wont recognise any updates off original Kinect games.


Edit: Just going to leave it as is, with HDD from other console on it as its working fine that way.
@manwithoutname it's funny how i dont think of the most simplest of thing's first.

Made up with the RG'd console i got off you, never really used my consoles much until now
