I recently got a falcon jtag. All was working perfect. Yesterday I put some dlc files onto my m$ HDD from a thumb drive using FSD to transfer the files. I had done ALL of that many times before.
After I was finished, I shut the console off. Couple hours later, I wanted to play. Turned it on and got punched in the nuts with the E74 error screen.
I know that this is a hardware issue. Reball is in my future...I think. Is there a chance that the dlc files could corrupt something? Or is this a gpu/solder issue FOR SURE.

It has the TX xclamp replacement already, done preventatively. didn't work. Can I mess with the tightness of the heatsink bolts maybe?

Thanks in advance for ANY help, guys.

Yeah. Thats what I figured. I was hoping that messing with the tightness of the heatsink bolts would be a possible solution. XeXmenu still comes on when I power with eject. I assume it's because that program doesn't need to see the affected chip(s)? GPU, right?

Yep, XeLL doesn't use the part of the GPU which E74 originates from, so a reflow/reball is in order. Worst case will be a replacement GPU, but if you're sending it to someone for a reball, most of the time they'll offer the replacement GPU too.

Damn. I understand the difference in technique for a reflow and reball. Is it always worth the extra cash to just reball the thing?
