JTAG e79 with Falcon

Hey guys.

It's been a while since I did a Jtag but I had a falcon with a exploitable kernal and dash so I thought I would jtag just for old time sake.

I noticed when I opened the console that it looked to have been Jtagged prior. It loads and plays fine on the stock dash.

I installed a Tx Jtag kit (#2) via conventional method. I then proceeded to read the nand using my Nand-x/Jrunner then flashed xellous. Unplugged the console, plugged it back in, hit eject and E79.

Ok, I figured it may be the soldering - checked all the points and they were fine.

Decided to try the aud_clamp method with the QSB kit as well (cut the red and wired the diode to DVD and yellow to aud_clamp (double checking to make the sure diodes were oriented correctly). Same result.

Tried Blackaddr's method with the transistors - same result - E79 after xellous flash.

Question - is it possible the Nand on the console (I doubt it's the original) is corrupt enough were it works fine with the stock dash but causes problems with Jtagging?

Just wondering if I did something wrong. I since gave up on the console and RGH'd it instead and it works fine.

I always wonder when I pick up where someone else left off on a mystery console.

Thanks for the input.

I didn't post any pics because I have since RGH'd it and move on. I have another Falcon here that is similar and I haven't tried Jtagging it but it also looks like it may have been Jtagged in the past (still on old dash w/exploitable kernal)

:)

By any chance, when you did the aud_clamp wiring, did you reflash with the aud_clamp option in j-runner? If you did, when you wired it up did you wire it to the aud_clamp AND DVD wire or just the aud_clamp point? I know that there are different files for different wiring, I would check that first. I doubt that the original NAND would be corrupt if it starts fine with that, so it's either wiring (incorrect for the image or bad solder joint, which I doubt, looks to be just fine on that pic) or programming. I have flashed the wrong wired NAND to a console before, reflashed it with the right file and had no problems.

Edit: just reread OP, noticed that you already updated and rgh'd the console. Probably was the wrong image for the wiring, but glad its working for what you wanted to do with it!

Hey Miller...Yea I tried both methods and it didn't make a difference.

The console was a mess. They had an aftermarket drive and didn't bother changing the DVD key so when I initially flashed the drive nothing would boot.

I have a 2nd Falcon with a similar e79 issue. I will take a read of those resistors Martin.

Thank you!
