Since then i have been trying to update to the latest dash and i get an e81 error all the time i have tried various updates through usb trusted method for me i have tried burning to cd and ive tried through games.

The console has correct hitachi drive for it and stock firmware it originaly got red ring whilst updating, this was a while back.

Any input welcome the update i put on was 12416 to get it going!

What's the history of the console? HDMI? Ever been JTAG'd? Someone try to uflag? etc?

As far as i know its just run of the mill xbox never been messed with until 3 red ring.

Fixed the red ring for me mate and when it started up we had the long error message across screen ending in 13 i think i initialy asked on here about it and got no replies so phoned xbox 360 support and they said the error was there fault and to send it back.

I did this but they sent it back saying it had been opened.

This was 6 months ago or so but i fixed another one the other night with similar error and this one also so i thought but can not update it.

I have just tried 3 different hard drives with no joy! even with no hardrive attached it doesnt even get to the message up about connecting storage etc

The model is non hdmi and prob and early release.

Thanks Dave.

Can you check the bottom of the board - R6T3 resistor should be there with no damage around it. If you have a multimeter, make sure it's 10kOhm.

Do the NAND points look like someone's soldered to them?

Sailsy,

Where you ever able to get this fixed? I have an original XBOX, that does the same thing. I am on code 2.0.8599, and when I go to update I get the E81. I can play older games but none that require an updated dashboard. Any help would be appreciated.

E81 is flash system update fail, I suggest performing a manual update / dash restore by rgh1'ing it.
