well i changed my eeprom with configmagic which worked fine but then i wanted to go back to my real eeprom stored on the x3 backup so i went on x3 live unlocked the hdd restored the eeprom and locked the hdd again

reset the box and got error 6 because for some reason the hdd got locked to the old eeprom again!!!!

x3 live would not boot with the locked error 6 hard drive so i used a unlocked hdd to get back into x3 live and flash the eeprom again over ftp so it would match the locked drive!

put the locked drive back and no more error 6 :wink:but the weird thing is now if i turn the x3 off a get FLASHING RED which means Dead, broken or empty eeprom

i've tryed 9 eeproms with x3 and configmagic with no luck but the box works fine with the x3 bios so is x3 using the eeprom info from the x3 bios to work and my onboard eeprom is broken

FIXED IT
for a test i deleted the x3 bios that was working then flashed a fresh copy of the x3 bios back to the x3 using flashbios which is cromwell and works with a blank eeprom!
the xbox would now give the no eeprom red flashing using the x3 bios awell so that told me the x3 bios has a embed eeprom from the eeprom backup

the only way i could fix this was to take my SMARTXX with a another copy of my eeprom and swap the chips then the smartxx fixed the onboard eeprom!!!!!!!!!!!
so why didnt the x3 with my embed eeprom also repair the blank eeprom and why didnt configmagic repair the eeprom after the x3 bios had loaded my apps?

i think its because my xbox had a totaly blank eeprom so the x3 looked to the embeded eeprom which was why the x3 bios worked before i flashed a CLEAN x3 bios
but because of this configmagic and the x3 would try to flash the EMBEDED EEPROM and not repair the onboard eeprom

the smartxx isnt as good as the x3 but like flashbios it's cromwell so can boot without any eeprom so could xecuter add a eeprom flash tool to flashbios

just read the old drive get the o/fw of it then load the extreme you want to use, the press spoof to target, now hook up the new drive get it into vendor mode then press write
