I have a ver.1.1 xbox, with a maxtor 80 gb, and a xecuter 2.6 ce lite
I have had my modbox for a little less then a year, my main dashboard was evox, and from what i can tell i have the latest bios 493.......
My problem began, when my 1yr old son (children are not blame, its lack of supervison that is), was playing with one of my controllers and apprently went into avalanch, and changed my video settings. Simple problem, simple solution, but not for noob me......dum noob me goes into avalanch, and tries to fix simple problem ( never fix things on your own if your a noob!), and dum noob me creates bigger problem. Dum noob me for reasons unknown to mankind, decidies to restore eeprom settings in avalaunch..........not knowing what the hell eeprom is, just hoping it will bring color back to my screen.........to make matters worst, dum noob me, ignores the fact that avalaunch has security measures set in place, so noob me, cant change eeprom settings without unlocking hdd.......should have read the warning, but no dum noob me, goes one more step further, uses avalaunch to unlock hdd, then goes onto restore eeprom from avalaunch menu...........
5 mins later dum noob me realizes how dum i am ..........when xbox attemepts to boot, and dum noob me gets error 13...........
Now dum noob, is no longer considered dum, just noob......i have done over 3 weekes of research, on xbox scene, the slayers forum, etc. I havent posted here, which can still consider me dum, but i wanted to do more reasearch on my problem so that you guys can help me get to the root of the issue..........
Ive obtained a copy of slayers 2.6, finially got it onto a dvd-r, and finially got my xbox to read it.......i attempted to reinstall the ms dash and the evox onto c:/ and i attempted to reformat the hdd....... (b4 any of this i tried to make a backup using slayers, but im assuming it didnt work...)
I never got a dashboard installed, or else i would not be having this problem....i cant tell if my hdd got reformatted, but i imagined either it did or did not (doesnt matter, i just want my box to work) .
The thing that concerns me is that when i boot of the slayers disc, and i go into settings, under my hdd it says unlock error....( maybe i tried to unlock a unlockable hdd)....also when i connected my retail 8gb hdd, it displayed unlock error as well. (my 8gb hdd should have been in org. Condition, cant explain error?)
I could never get configumagic to load...it would freeze....
I did however get a hold of the guy who modded my xbox, and he had it for almost 2 weeks before coming back and telling me its beyond his ability to fix........( he tried to ftp from his pc, and told me the 80gb was wiped clean, he was able to see it though flash fxp, but could not get the dash files onto the hdd, thats why i dont think the backup i did in slayers worked)
I havent tried to reflash my chip, fearing the worst, and saving my last resorts for last.
I understand error 13 is a dashboard error, i dont understand why my retail hdd gives me the unlock hdd error, and why it wont boot.....
When i power up with the chip on, at the splash screen it says xecuter 2 on the bottom. That plus the fact i have power and its reading the slayers disc, makes me think my chip is good, my mobo is good, my dvd drive although a crappy thompson is good ........something has to be bad..
Questions:
Is there another installer recommened other then slayers 2.6??
Is slayers 2.5 still avalabile??
Is there a way to get the reatil ms dash off my 8gb, and onto pc, so from ther i could ftp into my 80gb?
Ive heard of fixing error 13 with some of the latest xbox live games, but my box wont boot games, just slayers.....any ideas???
Can configumagic iso be put onto a dvd-r and boot like slayers?
Did i kill my xbox????????????????????????????????????????
