i heard somewhere that there are 3 different kinds of EEPROMs. 1.0, 1.1-1.5, and 1.6. can anyone confirm this? i ask because i'm about to buy a 1.1 mobo and want to be sure i can desolder and use the EEPROM from my 1.4 mobo.
ive seen that tutorial, but thats not the answer to my question.callit said:I'm gonna go ahead and assume the reason you want to do this has something to do with a locked hard drive...
That's the only logical reason I can come up with anyway
As for compatibility, I've never played with the EEPROM, but I'm sure searching around xbox-scene might yield something.
EDIT:

Yes, there are 2 version of EEPROM as far as I know. There is the v1.0 EEPROM (1.0 xboxes only) and the v1.1 EEPROM (all xboxes 1.1-1.5. I dont know about v1.6 xboxes). Even if you have the wrong version EEPROM, its possible to convert it, but you should be fine. The X3 bios doesn't care what version EEPROM you have, it will boot from either no matter what version xbox. The only problem with the wrong version is when you boot with the modchip disabled, and that can be fixed by using the newest Config Magic to re-write the eeprom.
