I have a 1.6b xbox and X3 mod chip. Yesterday my dad and I tried installing the chip wit the rebuild PCB but the first time we booted it up (quick press) with the chip in it would restart 3 times and then FRAG and the X3 light would stay red. If i held down the powerbutton it would go to the ms dashboard. So i started checking out forums and people were saying the d0 wire was probably the problem. Then I rechecked all the solders we did and I found out that we forgot 1 solder point (the one in the red circle).

so we soldered that in and booted it up and it would restart 3 times like before, but the X3 light would be blue and the eject led would flash yellow and i couldnt turn off the xbox. Even if I tried the backup boot or the the other boots it would do the same thing. I dont know what to do now. I dont think its my dads soldering because he is a pretty good solderer (he builds satellites for boeing). what should i do? If you need some pictures of my motherboard i can take sum real quick and post them here.

DO YOU ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM THAT YOU ARE UNAWARE YOU ARE SHOUTING EVERYONE AND WE DONT TAKE TO IT NICELY AND YOU MAY WELL WAKE UP WITH A SEVERED HEAD IN YOUR BED AS A CONDEQUENCE?

but seriously, avoid excessive use of caps, its rude and makes you seem like a twat... Which makes people less inclined to help you.

(It's the truth, I saw your post, and i couldn't even be arsed reading it cos all I could see were CAPS)

looks like there's alot of resin on the pinheader install. try scraping some of that away without scraping a trace
also you did solder the D0 wire to the D0 metal plate right?

ok, I just tried turning my xbox on without the modchip in and it still flashes yellow. i dont know if that means that the xbox motherboard is screwed up. i really need some help here please.

RoaZtedPuppy & nospmohtkcin,

Why are you guys knocking xecuters soldering job of the PCB? Yes, that image is posted by x in the PCB rebuild sticky thread.

kwaZyJAS,

Sad to say, but you need to redo your soldering job. If the box isn't booting with the chip removed it sounds like you have bridged some points or even lifted or burned a trace.

yea i do have both the leds lit up on the chip so i know its getting the right amount of power. I think im going to try the wire install instead of the PCB install. damn. more work. :(
