there are loads of places in the uk that sell parts, in plymouth I use brewsters and radioparts, but it is easy to set up an account with RS components... next day delivery no probs etc, then there was Farnell, dont know if still about but was like RS. then there ar the surplus electronics places that buy up and sell components, get an electronics hobbyist magazine and trawl the classifieds.

Hope this helps

Maplins for soldering iron.

www.lsdiodes.com for led's,

Lsdiodes:

Best quality and range i have ever seen and last time i used them they shipped anywhere in the world for 75 cents.

I'm from the U.K. and found everything to arrived perfectly in a tiny jiffy bag, and a free sticker!

Beat that! :D

Power cord melted when flashing to new lt on my liteon. HELP

Having the old 1.61 firmware on my liteon on i decided to update when the lt firmware was released. i had the ck3 lite chip/probe powering the drive. It was outside of the 360 as soon as i plugged the dvd drive in the cables connecting the two melted and smoked, i removed as soon as possible. but now the drive will not turn on, spin cd's, or open. I've had a few people tell me it was the power cords ends being reversed but i'm always very carefull each time pluggin them in or removing. Can anyone explain to me what needs to be done to recover the key off my dvd drive so i can order a new liteon to replace this broken one?????????

I would have to agree with the others. If you dont know, what causes wires to melt is when you have a power wire and a ground in contact with each other, this turns red-hot immediately. The most likely cause of this is you had something plugged in backwards. I couldnt really see anything else causing this, unless your house has strange wiring to the outlet you were using.

My guess is, you made a mistake. Its ok. It happens. But you also most likely fried your drive and the ck3 chipset. If you have fried something on your lite-on, you arent going to find an easy fix to removing the key. Atleast not that I know of. You shud just go buy a new xbox for $200, and consider a lesson in double-checking anything like this in the future.

Sorry for your trouble, good luck.

I understand the concept. I am a journeyman electrician, the wiring in my house is fine. I have a very nice hakko soldering gun ive heard of ways of being able to do it like http://www.boxxdr.com/lohack.html. But i need someone who has done it to explain it to me
