Embarrassing solder issue

I've had a slight issue whilst trying to solder my Demon into my Trinity console

Basically I slipped with the iron whilst trying to solder the 4 points clustered at the bottom of the board and I've created a massive bridge between all 4.

Ignore the bridge at the top of the photo I've already sorted that, but no matter what I try I can't get rid of the solder creating the bridge at the bottom, it just won't come out. My solder wick isn't doing anything at all and I'm out of ideas now.

Hoping someone can chime in with a few options for ideas to get rid of the bridge.

Regards,

Solder wick should get it out. It's possible the tip you're using isnt putting out enough heat to flow that big of a glob. Try a bigger tip and use flux on your wick.

It's more than possible the iron itself isn't putting out enough heat to be honest. It's only a cheap 18W iron.

I've got a bigger angle tip I'll try that thank you.

And it may sound crazy but you can apply more solder to get what you want to remove molten.

Place your iron on the glob of solder. Add new solder by touching the iron so it melts. The newly molten solder will melt the old if you leave the iron on long enough as your applying new (shouldn't take but a second or two). Quickly grab your wick while leaving the iron on the spot and soak it up.

I did say my skills were rusty  I actually remembered this before BrockThunderjams post but it didn't work (I'm assuming because the iron isn't hot enough).

Replacing the smaller tip with the bigger angled one has though, just got to hope I haven't damaged the pads now :)

OK it's time to give up and send it off to a professional I think before I do some serious damage, my soldering skills are far to rusty for this :(

I can't clear these bridges now, I think the demon is slightly out of place so the solder is flowing where it shouldn't.

Does anybody know of a good member to send it to in the UK to clean up my mess and fit the demon along with a CR4 that I will supply?

When I started nodding my console I ordered some cheap 40w solder iron off eBay. My first qsb looked like yours. I burned four 4gb nand rw kits until I was able to solder that properly. Thank god I didn't burned or ripped anything on mobo. I tried to buy More powerful solder iron and it helped. I would send that to somebody. These guys will do it for you really cheap. And try to improve your soldering on some dead boards. Like I did.

I use the solder wick too and find that it doesnt do much of a good job especially in cramped spaces. Ive got a hand solder sucker which is basically a little hand help plastic sucker with a spring coil that drags the solder out. They should be quite cheap and more efficient.

Google it. Its a must have to get that excessive solder out
