in x2 4981 i have my eprom embedded into the bios. I did this using xbtool. I see that xbtool doesn't support anything above that. Any tools that i have seen that do support x2 5032 do not have an embed eprom option.
Do any tools or methods exist to do this in x2 5032?

Thanks,
JD

What's the point of embedding your eeprom? What exactly does it do and why would you want to?

I've never read anything on embedding the eeprom into the bios...

It's so that the few people out there who hosed their eeprom can boot the xbox.
It's not supposed to be a permenent fix.

You really should use eepromer or similar to reflash your onboard eeprom.

Klutsh has it right. this is the reason why i need to be able to embed the eprom. I would reflash it except that my drive will not unlock. so if i reflash it that means a new drive too. more money than what i have right now.

If the 5032 bios can not have an embedded eprom that is fine. I was just curious if it could be done.

Can't believe the negative replies in this thread!!

Embedding an EEPROM is one of the only ways to boot an Xbox which needs an EEPROM repair. Very useful tool and shouldn't be dismissed.

If this can be done for the v16 BIOS, it may help those 1.6 users who have FRAGged their EEPROMs.

How can you screw up your eeprom? Is there any way other than trying to write over it or changing it with Config Magic or another similar app? And why should it be done with 1.6 xbox's more so than any other version?

Basically just that - if someone is attempting to reflash their EEPROM and it doesn't work as expected, all they get is a flashing red light. The only way out of this is to either reflash with a modified version of cromwell, or use an embedded BIOS.

XBTool has the feature already to embed an EEPROM into an X2 BIOS (pre 4983), so those with 1.0-1.5 Xboxes are fine. However, 1.6 owners aren't so lucky. If it could be incorporated into the X2CL BIOS it would be the first time 1.6 owners could boot their Xboxes properly if their EEPROM was screwed.

sorry if this is against the rules to ask but can anyone send me the 4981 bios as i can find it from the usual place and it seems to be the only one that some one has embedded an eeprom into as i have tried to load every other bios that xbtool works with but it doesnt come up with the option to embed an eeprom as its just faded out even though i can access all the other options. but if its me doing something wrong some help would be appreciated.

This is where you need a little common sense.

"What are those switches for?" is the question you need to ask yourself.

None of this is rocket science - I'm sure you can work it out.

If you want to fix this, you'll need a programmer.

Flash the 4981 with embedded EEPROM to bank 1 of your chip (you may as well flash bank 2 with FlashBIOS while you're there).

Boot from bank 1 and it should work. Then all that's needed is get a copy of ConfigMagic to reflash the onboard EEPROM.
