Out of the box, my Switch was on 4.0.1 . . . and I've kept it that way.
I have an EmuNAND on a hidden partition that I've updated to 6.2.0. I've booted exclusively in EmuNAND and have no intention of booting the 4.0.1 SysNAND if I can get away with it.
I do not have airplane mode on (which I know has been heartily recommended), but I don't even have my wi-fi password entered, so I can't imagine how it could get online. (I need Airplane Mode off because I frequently use a Pro Controller wirelessly, and it needs Airplane Mode off to connect.)
My questions are as follows:
1) I see lots of folks worrying about automatic updates, stealth updates, updates from friends, updates from carts . . . since I'm on EmuNAND, I don't ever need to worry about that, right? Worst-case scenario, the EmuNAND gets updated, I'm on a version of the OS that I don't want (and/or doesn't work), and I wipe the memory card and re-create the EmuNAND from the virgin SysNAND and try again. Does that sound right?
2) As I understand it, I can still play multiplayer local games using a local-area connection, if I have multiple Switches in the area. Does that sound right? (But then I run the risk of my Switch trying to update if one of 'em is on a newer version of the OS?)
3) If I can play multiplayer local, how does that work? Do we all need to be on a local wireless router together, or can they all hook up without needing a network to connect to? (If they all need to connect to the local router, I should be able to deny a wi-fi connected Switch access to the Internet entirely by enabling Parental Controls on my wireless router [disable all Internet access to the Switch's MAC address] . . . which, now that I say it, might be smart regardless.)
Basically, I don't particularly care if I get banned (although I'd like to keep my options open in case some awesome online-only game ever shows up). But I really would like to avoid the Switch's SysNAND updating (especially since there are times when SX OS can't be used, as we know from the current 7.0.0/7.0.1 situation).
Thanks for your help, everyone!
