OK, so I burned the enable0800 disc to a DVD+R DL with IMGburn like you are supposed to (it is memorex type), but it is not proceeding with xRead. The enable0880 disc takes 1 minute to stop making the noise, instead of the expected 10-20 seconds according to Textbook, which leaves me to believe something is wrong with the disc. It stops directly after choosing my chipset with this message: "port: IF0, Master/Slave: a0"

I have an ICH5 chipset and have successfully flashed an MS25 before. For the MS28, since I am using the enable0800 disc, I made the USB boot disk for an MS25 since the MS28 will act as a MS25 after using the enable0800 disc...this is correct, right?

I need suggestions as to how to get this working. It seems very simple and I am getting pretty frustrated.

Via Chipset will be so much easier. 20 bucks for a easy way to save thousands later is nothing. Spend it

It's not a matter of a via chipset being easier you have to use a via chipset for the ms28.

You have to use a via chipset if you are bad flashing, but to my understanding if you use the enable0880 disc it makes it a ms25, and for a ms25 my ICH5 chipset is compatible (I have already flashed a ms25 successfully with it).

The 0800 disc only works on drives that are already flashed with a hacked firmware. It won't do anything to a retail MS28 drive. You NEED a VIA chipset or VCC method to flash a retail MS28 drive.
