I am assuming you are using the bad flash method, correct?

What happened the first time you flashed the drive? Did you even get that far? Are you sure you have a valid drive key?

Caster.

yes caster i used the bad flash method (well i ticked the box anywyas, i assume tahts what you mean?), the 1st time i flashed the drive it seemed to read ok, everything went according to plan, then when i was prompted to reboot both the 360 and the pc i did so, when i came to the flashing part it started then stopped pretty much straight away, i think it came up with some error unfortunatly i made no note of it. i am pretty sure the key is vaild, i opened the hacked.bin and original.bin with firmware toolbox, the orig.bin is 30 letters long and appears to be a valid key, the hacked version is 30 f's. when you count to ten and turn drive on to flash it nothign happens, cant samread or samhack...any more ideas?

are you using the latest extreme bootmaker program v0.3.6 as this new program puts the sata switch code in for you as long as you use the bad flash ms28 and apply bokes patch utitlity that built into xtreme you should have no problems flashing your drive. also be careful about moving the 360 after you have set everything up as those sata cables can come loose very easily.

no actually i used a more recent version than that, infact when it went wrong i upgraded the bootmaker to version 05.3 and inserted the hacked and original.bin into the usb and booted from there, ....guess what...nowt happened ...same as older version...no response from pc when i power xbox drive back on after selecting extreme sata card????

If you have a valid orig.bin you can manually create your hacked.bin in Windows. Copy x360sam, orig.bin and whatever xtreme bin (a, b, c or d) to the same folder, then go to a DOS prompt, navigate to that folder and run:

x360sam [original fw] [master hacked fw] [new fw]

For example:
x360sam orig.bin xtreme52c.bin hacked.bin

This will create a new hacked.bin file and the keys should match in Toolbox.

already tried that mate, used samtool.exe to inject key into extreme f/w ...tried to flash with that one...guess what happened...? nowt again, it seems that its a problem gettin the actual drive to read/flash and not the original.bin or hacked.bin. the drive does not spin up when its powered, it wont eject so cant use enable0800 disc...thanks for help but do you have any other ideas? spoke to some specialist and said he would do it for a price so its fixable...i think its that there is currently no f/w on the drive any ideas???

I had the same thing happen. I worked with the bad-flash method for 5 days with 3 differnt MoBo's and SATA cards trying to re-flash. Tried the 10 second trick for days on end. Never able to talk to thr drive. Sent the drive off last week. Got a msg that it was now up and running with my key. Hoping to get it back today to try out. I really thought I was going to have to buy a new MS28. Still haven't heard on what the hell I did wrong.

i am left feeling rather perturbed from the assistance i have received on this site, no offence to any individuals, but i thought this site was packed with people that were familiar with these situations, alas this seems not to be the case...2nd post and still no reasonable assistance, please dont be offended but i think i am going to give up unless anyone has anything to shed some light on the subject? i know it can be fixed, maybe when i sort it out i will share the information to other unfortunate people like myself :(

Hey man, if the help isn't coming fast enough to your liking then by all means give up. The fact is this thread has been here for exactly 48 hours now, that's not exactly an eternity. I'm sorry but that was a completely ignorant post by you. No one here owes you anything and the reality is people come here to help, but the tone of that post isn't going to make things move any faster.

And I would hope you would share any information on a fix, that is what support forums are for.

could have sworn that i said that there was no offence to any individual intended however i do feel that i am alone with what i sort of hoped was a common problem, and as for sharing information with others...i could have sworn that i stated i would still come back and help anyone that stumbles over the same fault so not sure why your gettin all high strung over that one...a moderator and over 250 posts and you resort to insulting me because i am losing faith?? thanks for the help mate eh...besides this is not my 1st post concernin the problem so its not exactly 48 hours either is it>? ps it was not an ignorant post, more an ignorant reader to not notice the facts that i have pointed out..again thanks for your help...read the entire post maybe you will see taht i am gettin nowhere with this

Not sure where you think I insulted you but ok. And just because you say "no offense" doesn't mean people aren't going to get offended by anything previous to it or after it. That's all. Good luck with the 360, stay patient and research and someone will help.

(This exact "no offense" thing is in a Will Ferrell movie, can't remember which one.) lol
