Simple terms.

1.... Goto Microsoft website, download the LATEST dashboard update, either put this downloaded file onto a USB pen drive, or burn it onto a BOOTABLE cd-rom

2... Put said USB drive in one of the USB ports in your 360, or if you've burnt it to a CD, then power on the Xbox, press eject, put the CD in, then switch OFF !

3... POWER ON, the 360, let the new DASHBOARD install onto your 360.

4... GET YOUR SHINY NEW UPDATED 360, RE_FLASHED, as it is now STOCK

Guys if you have this error you can't update from usb. I have same problem today with clients console. You have to flash your drive with the latest CFW, and then you can continue update.

You have got the update from a game, probably Bodycount, Madden 12, etc.

These contain a must have update. If you had kept up to date with M$ updates and had 1.91 on your drive you wouldn't be having this issue.

Put your original game that tried to update this into the drive, let it continue and then re-flash once finished.

Then the original should update just fine. All times with the new wave/update, (Except where there is a spoofed drive) the original has carried on with the update and finished it. returning the original drive to stock.

In most cases because the update has been half way processed, and the drive has returned to stock, the disc that it is looking for can no longer be found, because a backup is being used. So the original must be inserted to finish the update.

The only other way around, is to flash CFW back to drive, remove the HD, put disc back in, and then it should re-start and ask for HD, turn off, put hd back and turn on, update should finish.

What is CFW, i know OFW but not the C. I believe my drive is spoofed because i had to hit that button to get m dvd key to carry over. I tried the boot disc but still same result as before! Thanks again guys

As it is the original, it should go through just fine, if it doesn't call M$ and explain the situation. I am sure they will be able to help you.

Everyone i know with the original has updated just fine, just had to reflash afterwards, or not updated at all if they have updated through live already to the newest dash.

If you were updating with a backup game, and now the update doesn't finish, you have to take dvd drive out, reflash it with 1.91, and procced with the update, as the drive was flashed back to stock by microsoft, which means it can't read no backups games till you reflash the drive.
