Hi Everyone,
I need you peoples help. I am ri]unning FLASHBIOS 3.0.1 and trying to flash my X3 and I have the new front display with the Pro switch and LCD. I when I put the CD in that I made on my Comp. It sais Unknown Flash Halting. Let me tell you what I am flashing. I have the X3_bios_2914. and I have the TeamXECUTER Flashbios tutorial. It uses flash bios 3.0.0 1st question, will that make a difference if I have 3.0.1? second question, in the directions after I make the dummy.bin file. 2nd Do I want to physicaly name the .bin file bios.bin, because if I do that when I try to burn it it looks like this BIOS.BIN.BIN? Or should I just call it bios, seing how it is allready a .bin file? thats been bugging me. Also I have a thompson DVD rom, will this cause a problem? and if soo my home PC has a toshiba DVD, could I just plug that one in and leave it hanging out of the top just to flash bios? So the main thing, I have the New X3 bios, and the Dummy.bin creator, and I can burn it to a CD-RW at 4x, thats all I can do, I don't have a dvd burner, and my CD-RW's lowest speed is 4x. and I set up NERO like it said exactly and then boot up the Xbox untill I get the FLASHBIOS 3.0.1 screen, then I used the pro switch and make sure my Button banks where set to on on off off. then I tried to click on the flash from disk and inserted the disk it saw the bios .bin file in all caps then it said Unknown falsh halting. what happend????? Also I havn't been able to find much out about the pro switch, is it the same as the X3 switch, just push in is on and popped out is off? well I have kinda rambled on and I need help. I'm at work. I have never done any Xbox mods before, but I have worked on comps for ablout 10-15 years. please reply to the post with anyhelp you may be able to offer on resolving my problems. thanks Peoples. lol

hey,no u dont need to name it bin because its already a bin file.the filename must end with just .bin.second u must rename the bios file to bios,so it will read bios.bin in nero.if this doesnt work check that flashprotect is off on the chip itself.if its off u should read xecuter3 2048k in flashbios.it could also be a bad connection between the chip and the pinheader.good luck bro

Question #1 Am I surposed to Label the bios file bios.bin? Because if I do that Nero shows it as bios.bin.bin
Question #2 When trying to flash the Xbox recognizes the flash then said Unknown flash Halting? what did I do wrong?

If you've worked on computers as long as you say you have, I'm going to assume you have some type of home network. This being the case, just flash over your network. It takes much less time than prepping a CD and flashing with the cd.

Doing a network flash, aleaviates possible CD Imcompatabilitys, Possible file corruption from the PC to the CD, Ect...

I just Had a baby and moved out of my Mothers house. I am 23. and have been working on comps for a long time. But money is tight and I'm unable to pay for the Internet. So I do have a few comps hooked up, but not to the web. The guy who lives bellow me has a wireless that I'm trying to get into. He said he doesn't mind. But I would rather do it via CD for now

I concur with neotrin2000. If you have a home network, http flash is a thousand times better than burning bios into a cd or dvd. Problem with burning cd is flashbios is pretty picky with media and brands of cd.

FYI Bsharon, you need to change the bios name to "bios.bin" only and not bios.bin.bin. For example, if you are using winxp, all you need to do is right click on the X3 bios file that you are burning, right click on it, choose rename and simply type "bios" into the box. The .bin is hidden under windows unless you configured your system to show file extensions (ie. .exe, .gif, .jpg, etc)

If you need help in setting up your network for ftp, either so search of this forum or give us a shout.

lol.. Dude just name it "bios" Nero should add the ".bin".

1.just change the x3blabla to bios so it will read bios.bin in nero.

2.check if your flashprotect is off,check that is good connection between the pinheader and x3 or check the soldering on the lpc.

Allright, thanks for your help. I figured it out over the weekend, and now I am able to play my backups. my whole problem was the switch on the X3 itself. after I switched that I was able to flash the bios to 2914. thanks bro's
