executer 3 and flashing bios ::NOOB::

Greetings. I'm a noob at xbox mods. I just installed an executer 3 in my version 1.3 xbox. Everything went great. Boots up to the 'blue' flash screen when chip is enabled and boots normally to the MS dashboard when disabled.

Here's my question (remember.. I'm a PS2 modder... this is my first xbox mod):

I went over to the mirc channel looking for a good bios. I found MANY to choose from. I've downloaded two files that I think I need:
flashx3.rar and X3_3294.rar (I've got more apps, see image)

I'm totally 100% unsure in what order I need to do things.
Here's what I need, if you please :)
1) What apps do I need to flash my box
2) What files do I need to put on the CD I'm going to use to flash
3) What position do the 'bank' switches need to be in (in case I screw up and need to recover)
4) Anything else?

I'm going to be running net cable to xbox in the next few days, but dont' have it run yet.

Sorry :) I'm a little paranoid. I really couldn't find a tutorial from start to finish that was extremely detailed. They're all worded as if they're written for someone whose already modded 100 xboxes.

Thank you very much for your time. I greatly appreciate it.

the easiest way is hook up the xbox to your network and flash it via network
Thanks for the reply. I'm sure network flashing the xbox is easier. However, without knowing any of the answers to the abovementioned questions, I'm still in the dark.

Well since you have a v1.3 you will need to extract the x3 3294 NOT the x3 3294 1.6plus. Then you will enable the network flash on your xbox in the flashbios screen. Then once it is enabled go to your internet explorer and type in the ip on the xbox in the web address bar. Then browse for the x3 3294 file and select it then flash your xbox.Put your bank switches to (from top to bottom) on on off off off before you turn your xbox on to flash it. After you flash it your xbox will turn off automatically, then turn it back on after 10 seconds. Then you should see the x3 config live screen. If you have a new hard drive format that and lock it first. Then you may want to put a dashboard like avalaunch or XBMC. Our if you have auto installer deluxe then you can burn that to a disc and use that to put apps on your xbox. Just ask anymore questions if you need help i'm usually here.

Thanks. I was hoping to flash it with a CD, but I guess I'll run the network cables (big job.. going through the floor going from my router up to the entertaiment center.... I was going to do it eventually anyway).

Ok.. .So... I need to flash the bios and then put in a different dashboard? Ok, what is the best dashboard? I've got autoinstallers, but I've never even heard of them for xbox untill I was on xbins yesterday.. and downloaded a few (refer to image). I've got xwizard multidash autoinstaller and I also got autoinstalled deluxe.

After flashing with the new bios, do I have to do something with the dip switches?

Sorry for being a noob :( Thanks for your help :) Man, DMS4 for ps2 was easy compared to the complexity of xbox mod! The soldering was a little tedious though. Cheers, and thanks again for you help. Much appreciated.

I suggest you take a good look at the various tutorials available. Firstly, check the links in my sig - especially the third party tutorials.

There's a lot more to an Xbox modchip than a PS2 - that's why there's more to learn.

I suggest that you use the auto installer deluxe. But I recommend putting xbox media center as your dashboard since there is many things you can do with it.

COOL! I flashed the bios per instructions from this cool site. With dip switches on, on, off, off, off. I was going to network the box, but I didn't have any cat 5 ends to put on my cable (have a big raw spool of cat 5). Anyway, flashed it with 3294. I was amazed at all of the options this new flash gives!

I keep forgetting that the xbox if a PC in a console! (I'm SOO used to SP2).

So, when I finally find an appropriate dash, (what really IS the best?).. do I have to pretty much flash a different bios location (different dip switch positions)? Sorry, I'm sure that everything I've asked has already been asked at one time or another. Thanks for not flaming me. When I finally get real farmiliar, I hope to be a contributor to this site :) It's a plethura of information.
Thanks again to all who helped me out. I appreciate your time and knowledge.

Like I said XBMC is by far the best dash, because their is many things you can do with it.

The XBMC FTP Server is reachable from #xbins, but it's not actually on the Xbins FTP site.

Read the details in the xbins popup in mIRC for full server details. ALWAYS download the full release initially as the CVS builds are not complete.
