I suspect the problem is that devices that support both the old USB mass storage bulk-only spec and the new USB attached SCSI Protocol spec (USB 3.0) aren't getting setup correctly. Note that not all USB 3.0 devices support UASP, but most better quality and/or higher capacity drives do since it is much faster. Every device that I have tested that does not support UASP works for me, and every one that does support it does not work.
They probably need to add code to properly setup the USB endpoint interface when a device supporting UASP is attached to force it into the old USB mass storage mode.
