My RGH is working again (thankfully!) - now I have a new drive that I will connect externally via USB. What steps do I need to follow in order that 1) the RGH will be able to use it for game saves and to create my profile on and 2) I can use it for all my games?

****I know it has to be in FAT32 and good practice is to create a folder on it called games and put all your games in that folder, but am I missing the obvious?

external usb hard drive can be configured through the menu but will only give you 32gb from what i remember

if you had a sata drive, you could format it and use the full capacity

if you use it as FAT32, you will not be able to use it for gamesaves or profiles

I have a SATA drive (different from the one I am mentioning above)...what would I need to do to format it and use for full capacity?

Just place the 2.5 sata HDD inside the xbox as internal and go to settings, storage and it will show up as unformatted. Just click on it and format it. Job done.

If you have the xbox 360. Take the original hard drive that fits on the side and take it apart and take that hard drive out and plug your 3.5 hard drive up to that and format it. That what I did. I have 2tb drive.

don't u mean 2.5 sata HDD. Cos 3.5 sata needs 12v.

Ah - that's right. Now I remember why I had the 2nd hard drive lying around as once I format it in the XBOX my PC no longer recognizes it, so I used the 2nd HD to copy the data over...
