ANSWERED external or internal hd?

I just format any hdd to what ever using GParted in Ubuntu if you dont use Linux then you can just use Live CD/USB/PXE/HD Job done put the hdd in your M$ hdd Shell or external what ever your poison is.....

thanks guys for helping here i got the drive now to fat32. now how do i get to install freestyle dash latest version to it? im also confused like xex menu 1.1?

my question is my jtag hd is empty what is the first thing i put on it to get this thing started.

1) Burned CD/DVD using XeXMenu 1.1.iso
Use the file browser to copy (using the "X" button) the directory
"C0DE9999" to the 360 HDD from a USB flash drive to:
Hdd1://Content/0000000000000000/
You will find what you need in xbins
When you have that done you can FTP to your Jtag if you like latest FSD is 2.0 Alpa which goes to your hdd root... you should also get dash_launch_v2.01_for_9199 put the installer on the hdd root and run the default.xex it can even flash the appropriate patches to your console for you, all that is required is that you have installed freeboot 9199.

lol im still having problems. ok i have xex menu on cd
do i have to have the ms hd on box or can i just put the external and have xbox do the 16gb partition to it

ok i got xex menu installed on to the ms 20gb hd. but is it possible to do this with out the ms hd and just use the external hd that i have? or do i always have to have the ms hd on the box and use the external that way? help please this is driving me nuts and i havent even started with fsd yet oh boy

put xexmenu on your M$ hdd bro its not like its going to eat up 16 gigs like xexmenu = 35.4 MB you can use it then to install back ups or what ever to your usb hdd you will need C0DE9999 and put it to the 360 HDD from a USB flash drive to:

do i need to let the xbox do its 16gb thing to my usb drive or do i just simply leave it completely blank and i will be able to use the external

you will not be using the usb drive on your normal M$ dash you will be using it in XeXMenu so it will see it for what ever size the usb is bro so for eg. if you make a folder on the usb drive that says Games then in XeXMenu it will see Games folder on the root of the USB drive..... if you want to use it on your normal M$ dash and in XeXMenu you will have to format it on your xbox... XeXMenu will still see it for its real size.... ok im off to bed Thanx for your help lol

To format your hdd in windows, do the following:

Run cmd,
type "format /FS:FAT32 X:"
Replace 'X' with driveletter

Now press Y when asked if you want to format or not.

Hi all,
I've read this thread in detail and done some other reading online but can't seem to work it out - I'd appreciate some assistance.

I have a new JTAG'd Arcade, no internal drive, and an external 1TB USB formatted to FAT32 in Windows (no content and never connected to XBox). I have downloaded XEXLoader 1.1 iso and burnt to CD.

How do I proceed and get XEXLoader installed to my external 1TB (or flash drive which i can permanently connect, don't mind) so that I can avoid purchasing an internal drive?
