External Swith Solder Point Connections...

I am in the process of getting a 1.6 motherboard with the LCB rebuilt with wires and the pinheader installed. I am wondering if the soldering for the external switch is an easy job. I looked at some pictures and saw that it seems like they points are big and have solder there so I am guessing I just have to heat the solder and apply the wire.

Please let me know if I am correct in my assumption.

Thank you.

Also I was wondering if the 5v solder is easy as well and do I absolutly need to use it for Xbox 1.6?

The wires are pretty big... I soldered them fine.

I believe you need to use it... or you have to do a wire install? Something like that. They're all pretty big and easy, if you can do the Pogo install... I'msure these wont be a problem.

Yeah well that is the problem I have a 1.6 and I can't do a Pogo install because I need to have the LPC rebuilt with wires into the pin header.

First question solved. (Solder points should be big enough for a beginner solderer to "touch-solder".)

Question now is do I need to use the 5v with Xbox 1.6...

From a FAQ on whats included with the X3:

you must manually remove 5v (pin 6) if installing to a v1.6)

I believe they wouldn't suggest removing the pin, if it wasnt necessary. I think... the 1.6 has problems with that, and it could fry it if you dont? I'm unsure. But Pretty sure you should remove it and follow the instructions... X3's include them, and it's also a very easy solder job

This will make you feel better then....

Never soldered in my life. Didn't practice on nothing - Just used common sense... I was shaky as hell... and I managed to get it up and running with only 1 solder point not soldered right... Re-did it, and everything worked. I was so tempted to make a new thread... Asking what I did wrong... Half expected my Xbox to secretly explode in the middle of the night, for a mistake I made and just didn't show up yet. It's REALLY easy to solder....even if your all shaky, sweaty and scared.. Just take it slowly, use a 15 volt iron... And dont touch the board for more then two seconds. If you mess a solder point up... n your touching it up a lot... try not to let it get TOO heated, let it cool down for a few seconds inbetween touchups... and everything should be fine.
