Well, my XBL console red lighted again and I remembered I had a jtag laying around.

I'm using the 250GB hdd I had on my live box and I'm trying to get a 500GB usb (mypassport) to work with this jtag.

I've formatted the drive to FAT32 and let the console do it's thing. Once it's finished the console says the drive isn't optimal or some crap and only shows 16GB of usable space...

Tried to reformat, etc and always get the same result.

It's been a long time since I even turned this box on, so please be gentle :p

Is there any way to get the jtag to recognize the full 500GB for game storage and stuff?

TIA...

What are you trying to do? The xbox 360 dashboard interface will only format a usb drive to 16GB max. It needs to be connected via MS Xbox 360 HDD location to see it and format it as a HDD. If you dont have a case then you will need to use it with a homebrew program like XEX Menu or FSD to use the full space.

Gotcha...told ya it's been a long time..I jtagged it, then forgot about it somehow..

I have FSD and DashLaunch on the usb drive right now and I'm booting straight to FSD.

I'm also having trouble with FSD finding my games on the 250GB hdd. I've set the scan paths and ran a manual scan without anything being found..I have no idea why FSD isn't finding my games...Help..

Thanks for any/all info...

I don't think I want to do that right now.

The 250GB hdd is fine, I was just trying to add another 500GB usb hdd to the mix.

I have it so messed up now that I get a E79 OR E81 error if I turn on the box with the usb hooked up..It was running fine a little bit ago..

After you ran the scan, did you reboot the console? Did you save the path settings? You need to hit a button to save it. Its not automatic.

I sure did.

Should FSD be on the 250GB "official" hard drive or can it be on the usb or does that even matter?

XeXMenu is on the official drive and works just fine. I've been out of this stuff way too long I guess.

Update..I know have a few games showing up in the FSD games section.

I wasn't setting the scan path right..I set a path for each game and what do you know, it worked :rolleyes2:

Now I have to remember how I got my game disks to copy the first time..

you shouldnt have to set each game path, you should be able to for example create a folder "games", put all your games in that folder and then create the path to the games folder and fsd should see them all.

eg. HDD/content/games/

you actually press on to the games folder then press save.

That's how I was trying to do it but it wouldn't work for me.

Once I set each game path separately, the games showed up and play fine..I don't know why, but this is how it's working right now..

Scan depth is set to the default 2..Before I reformatted the usb drive, I had it set to 10..

Maybe I'll set it back to 10 and play around with the scan paths again.

I know it's something simple...at least I hope it is..

My scan path looked like this: usb0\Games\ I think it should have worked?

really need it to be set to at least 5 i reckon
if your scan path was set to that it should be fine with a scan depth of 5 or more
the xex file (game) is about 2 or 3 levels in from the main if you have them as GOD files

GOD files? No idea what that is.

Is there any way to get the games already on the retail hdd to work on the jtag?

All the games I have on there now came straight from the game disk.

you just have to set the scan path, would be something like HDD/content/
you can have more than one scan path

I dont think you can use the standed games thats saved on your xbox retail hard drive. Personally, i would look at iso2god, it converts the iso and gets rid of the padding. then on the hdd drive create a folder called games (or on your external usb) transfer the converted iso folder into the games folder.
create a new a path to that folder and all should be good.

If you do decide to use iso2god create a folder on the HDD and name it content, inside that folder create another folder and name 0000000000000000 (16 0s) and then use the FTP feature and iso2god will put the game into that folder, also you can convert lots of games at the same time.
Point the game path from fsd to that folder and all will show up in the games folder.

agree with Justice , using iso3god can reduce a game from over 7gb down to 1 or 2gb in some cases

I mainly wondering about the 2-3 games that I bought and downloaded from XBL. I would really like to get those working if at all possible.

Sounds to me like a few of you need to PM me some info ; )
