Okay, just ordered as5. I guess i'll change it when it gets here. And when i install the fan we discussed earlier, we'll see how cool my system gets :D. Hopefully all this will make sure i wont need a reballing. I guess only time will tell. Btw, When put on the new thermal paste, do i need to Overheat my chips, like when doing the x-clamp fix, or will it work out of the box? Im guessing i dont need to, but i would like to know for sure.

Update about the fan:
I bought everything now, and im waiting for it. I decided to go with the LED fan, that flashing posted a link to. If its not good enough, i can always change it. I hope my soldering iron is hot enough for me to desolder so that i can install the fan header! That would be neat. Ordered a bunch of those headers.

No dont over heat you chips, you should never do this. The temperature tolerance of these chips are alot lower when the system is switched on and its not recommended by alot of people. Just make sure not to put too much as5 on. I always use a strip of a old credit card to spread a thin layer on. how hot is your solder iron? Also did you mamage to find a holesaw?

Ive used a 25w solder iron a couple times and not had any probs. Also when I said about a 67mm holesaw thats the external diameter. Anything bigger than that and you will see gaps around the fan.

Actually, when i first got the Nand-X, i decided to use the pin-method. That didn't work out because my iron wasn't hot enough! I then filled the holes with solder, and used another method. And yeah, i figured about the holesaw. I can't wait for the stuff to get here! unfortunately, it takes a while, when the stuff is from Hong Kong.

ive been wanting to do the 70mm fan mod but I know that i'll probably mess it up if I have a go it. Any chance that you could post a tutorial how to do it with some hi-res pictures with a step by step guide?

Cheers

I had a look at the tutorial you posted and it was of help, so thank you. I ordered a xcm fan which came yesterday but couldn't find a 67mm holesaw, so I tried to do the hole without it and have ruined my casing. Im not very good at doing practical stuff. Is there any chance that you would do this mod for me? I also live in oxfordshire, swindon if you havent guessed already and could drive over to your house and drop my xbox off If you would do it for me. I have a spare case that you could use.

Please help me!! I will pay you for your time.
