Desoldering sucks, though I'm gonna try your method when I get a new pin header. Since nothing else has worked for me.

I did my first solder job ever as removing my LPC holes. I finished in 3 minutes by tilting the board vertical and using the iron on the top of the board and the bulb on the bottom. I think i posted something like this just 1 or 2 days ago, but im not sure.

desoldering the LPC is a peice of cake. a solder sucker works best in this situation...soldering iron on one side...solder sucker on the other...nowhere else for the solder to go :p

Damn, get off your high horse. If you havent anything positive to say try not saying anything at all. Its not that hard. If I asked a question and I got one response about it, I wouldnt feel as comfortable as getting multiple responses of almost the same thing. At least I know its tried and true.

You can either use a solder bulb, a solder pump, or desoldering braid. The frist two are a lot cleaner than the braid as it may leave a little residue that you'd have to clean up with rubbing alcohol. Also I highly reccommend using some paste flux. It really really helped on the pinheader part.

If you dont want to desolder the lpc holes you could always do a wire install. Its not as secure as a pin header install and doesnt look as clean but it may be a little easier.

Really just tin the wires, heat up the solder and slide the wire in.

Also when your friend is installing the chip please make sure, or mention to him to use a 15w iron. I used a 25 watt iron and I was lucky nothing happened. Just take your time, and good luck, hope everything goes smoothly. :D

25 watts, I used my Weller WTCPT which is like 40 Watts I think, but it broke and dosent heat up now, I touched the iron stand and ESD shocked it and now it won't head up, think I need a new heater element.

is it true that a 15W iron is needed? I have a 15/30W switchable and the 15W can never get anything hot enough to get soldering done, so I used the 30W for the LPC port. I havent done the d0 yet but should i use a 15 for it?

Already updated to the AP 2.5 firmware, have a question

I've modded my 360 before, but I updated to AP 2.5. My question is, if I updated to AP 2.5, and then flash my 360 with LT Plus, will it be able to play video game backups still? Even though I updated to AP 2.5 first? I have a Benq 360.

Thanks!

Updated to AP2.5 First. You mean you updated the dashboard to the kinect dashboard.

Get your drive reflashed with LT+ and all will be fine. Make sure the games are patched properly with the new ABGX and you will still be able too play backups :)

Re: Already updated to the AP 2.5 firmware, have a question

Hi, I also have a benq, but already updated the system with Kinect Adventures. Now I can't flash my system cause my new pc isn't a VIA chipset. To make matters worst, I have a vista 64-bit pc, which Iprep isn't compatible with. Is there still anyway to play AC:B, NFSHP and any other ap2.5 games without updating to the LT+ firmware? Does using the abgx 1.4 not help?.

THanks

iprep blows for starters! use JF
it can be setup to run on x64
your mainboard may be compatible as long as your turn off raid and use the primary sata port
