Just got an x360key and attempted to use my pc to extract the drive key for my liteon 0225 (before just buying the usbpro).
I'm the kinda guy that will just keep trying and googling stuff till i get it to work, so...
So running W7 64 bit, I tried hooking up the drive to my Gigabyte motherboard just with a sata cable and powered drive with xbox.
In JF I got the drive to show up at least (just plugged into a secondary master sata port). But I got "MTK vendor intro fail"/"Slimkey failed" after clicking Slimkey (then "NO") and no matter what I tried couldn't fix it. I googled what to do and saw somewhere that for a different problem SATA in the Bios must set to enable IDE.
I went to BIOS and it was already IDE enabled, so I changed it to RAID coz I was just trying stuff and then then it worked and I got the bin files i wanted. No usbpro or via used - guess I was lucky?
Hope this helps someone. I wanted to post a reply to someone on this forum whos problem let me solve mine but coz I'm a 'noob' I couldn't - sucks coz I cant help the poor guy directly now.
