I'm trying to hook my friend up with some games and thus he wanted me to install a 250GB hdd on his 1.6 Crystal Xbox with a DuoX2 chip.

I'd been trying for hours to get it to accept this new hdd, but it just wouldn't, nor would it even boot from a cd, no matter if CDR, CDRW or DVDRW.

I even tried locking/unlocking it on my V1.1 Xbox, aswell as installing EvoX dash on it from the 1.1. It works perfectly on that Xbox, but once I move it to the 1.6 it just gives me the 13 error.

If I put my 1.1 DVDROM to the 1.6 xbox, I can boot and install the hdd stuff, but once I remove the CD, the xbox is unable to boot from the hdd :)

So, as a final resort I decided to install X2 5035 bios and put the .ini in the C and E drives. And, what a suprise, it still wont boot.

Also, I also tried my old original 8GB hdd (which I used way back and which contains EvoX software aswell) and this wouldn't work either. So the big size of the new disk is not the issue here.

So please guys. How can I get this stupid xbox to accept any other hdd then the original ? It flashes red just after the "config live loading" screen". This text doesn't go away either.

Been up till now 06:00 am trying to work this sh*t out :(

ONe thing. Yes, it works perfectly with the original hdd, there's even Def Jam installed on it, only game he could fit :)

Any help would be very much appreciated!!

check jumper setting slave / master
Ya, I've done that. Its on Cable Select.

Still, this hdd works fine on my 1.1, I even installed evox and everything to it from there..

And also my identical seagata disc, which also is seagate 8-10GB, wont boot either.

I degraded the bios (4x something) , locked the hdd up on another Xbox. And now I can get into bootdisk (slayers and others)

However, nothing seem to happen when I perform installations and stuff on the hdd. It seems to do stuff like copying and stuff, but its way too fast. And when I reboot without the CD it wont work. So it doesn't seem to be doing much of what it says.

What can cause this ?
