"F gets all" vs "no G"

I'm having major issues...

I have tried both "F gets all" & "no G"

Neither seem to work properly on my Hitachi 250 (I doubt the drive is the issue as my other xbox has an X3 with the same Hitachi 250 in it and has been fine for 6 months).

With "no G"...

I can delete existing files but cannot FTP (write) anything, i.e. make folder or copy folders/files.
- this was working fine before and I wrote gigs worth of movies and such to it. I can deleted these files fine and the sizes seem to show correctly. I can even FTP them to my PC and they are fine... so I know they are correctly on the drive.

With "F gets all"...
I cannot see any of the files or folders written with "no G".
But I can FTP files/folder to the drive just fine.

What the heck is the difference... and why am I seeing this strange behavior?

New HDD, no formatting beforehand. On a 250GB shouldn't 'F gets all' and 'F to 137, rest G' be the same since the F drive ends up only being 123GB anyway?

either way, I had to load each BIOS setting again... delete all files/folders, then start again. Seems OK now but still strange!

I wish we had a QuickBoot option for the X2 BIOS so we could boot different Dashes upon load without mod'n the BIOS manually.

F gets all = around 225GB on a 250GB HDD. If you're getting anything significantly lower then there was a problem elsewhere!

I'm glad you got it sorted. There is an option in X3CL to allow you to choose an application to load by holding the left trigger - why not make this another dashboard? At least you'd have two to choose from. TBH, the only one worth using is UnleashX anyway!

... but not in X2CL. The "quickboot" options for an X2 BIOS will exist only in the launch applications themselves. I'll echo Martin and say that for a utility dashboard, UnleashX is the way to go. This dash has a number of triggers that can be set up as quicklaunch applications. Never tried it but I understand that if you program the A button to be Halo 2, and then held down the button while the dash is booting you would drop right into Halo 2. Also there is a "recent program" menu that is accessible inside the dash, by the X button I think. So if you frequently select the same half dozen games/applications from your dashboard you can have really quick access to them. Oooh! And it has a built in text editor. This thing has been my savior at times.

Ah - for some bizarre reason I read X3. Sorry!!

UnleashX is the only Dashboard (AFAIK) that can be fully configured without a PC. You can even plug a USB keyboard into the Xbox (via adaptor) and use the text editor to full functionality.

Well, you did read X3 somewhere... there was an X3 mentioned in the first post so you're not losing it.

UnleashX also does a nice job of detecting and formatting a fresh drive. I use it for my installer discs that I create. Never looked into it but if UX supports scripting this could very well be the ultimate dash for auto-installers.
