I recently got my hands on old Falcon that was exploitable with JTAG.

I made LPT -cable and soldered it to the mobo.

When i tried to read my nand, nandpro never regognized the flash memory.

I got little frustrated, and removed all wiring just to notice that my xbox didnt boot anymore :/

To be honest, I had some very hard times with DB1F1. After I desoldered it (Used too big blob of solder) it was kinda mess. But then i got it actually power on again. It crashed at starting animation. Then i scraped all excess solder out from there, now it power, but screen remains black and only middle green is on.

Heres pic of my DB1F1:

I was thinking to get Nand-x and use it with alternate jtag points, but first i need to get this box even booting, right? :D

Any pointers? How that scraped point look to you, should it work? I tried with multimeter and its not shorted. All other solder points are quite neat, and that shouldnt be a prob.

Thanks already in advance!

EDIT. Well, the symptoms are basicly now just no sound. So if anyone knows what i possibly blew that is causing this, please shed some light :)

..which doesn't load for me, hence why I can't see it!

...then miraculously it starts working!

If it's now crashing at the animation, you've either damaged something elsewhere or have a bridged connection.

I have to ask, why are you trying this when you can't solder? Surely the better option is to just get someone to do it rather than f**k up a perfectly good console?

I found small piece of desoldering braid from motherboard.
Now it boots, but it's keeping odd break after XBOX 360 start animation. About 15 secs, then it boots to dash but theres not any sound and it doesn't open tray at all.
Hmm, maybe i burned something from motherboard?

Dash version is 2.0.6690.0

Martin C:
I'd like to think that I can solder but im not a pro.
Im not only one having hard time with these DB1F1 and similar points.

Soldering is like singing.

Everyone can solder to a certain degree. From the pictures, I'd say your soldering skills are seriously lacking to undertake a job such as this.

Unfortunately now you've damaged something, the chances of this ever working have dropped dramatically.

Write it off and treat it as a valuable lesson. Better still, use it as a practice board in the hope you don't ruin the next one that comes your way.

RGH
Martin C hit the nail on the head with the practice, practice, practice, It is a skill and it should also be tuned in as second nature, I have seen vids of in-experienced people soldering, that barely got by, with badly soldered joints that took them 5 minutes to solder (for one point!!!), a proper technician does the points in seconds and in fact that is part of the trick.

Use that old board as a reminder of your failed skills and incentive to practice, practice practice, that way next time you get a taggable board you can do it with no fear, it's sad that you busted that board up, what a waste.

It's never been xclamped or anything. :(

Yeah I guess i fried it :D
Need to practice more and get better flux.

All of those other points than DB1F1 i soldered in 15, but they was so much easier.

Well the next step is, RGH here I come :p

You're kidding, right?

Next step for you is to learn to solder. 3 of the points for RGH on a phat console are smaller than DB1F1.

I will delete any soldering/RGH related posts from you should I see them. You've been given the best applicable advice and I suggest you take it.

Nah, I just simply meant that 'cause i screwed this jtaggable box, gonna get RGH system next.

And yeah, gonna seek some advice and help with installation and going to practice on other things.

Thanks for your advices guys, really appreciate it.

Actually I have another working Falcon board. Is it possible to change CPU from this jtaggable board to another and jtag that one then?

Yes, it's possible. I wouldn't. It would be a lot cheaper(and safer) to just take your working falcon to a local modding shop, or send it to one of the many skilled people here at TX, to have the RGH installed. Might as well send your failed JTAG in to be repaired as well.... then you'll have 2 working instead of only 1.

That sounds like a good plan where are you in the us or uk as we have some very good modders on here like tea junkie Top guys who know there stuff you don't want to have two frazzled xboxs best not to learn to solder on a good Xbox as it is always a shame to see them end up in the bin ..all the best and hope you can get the first one fixed:wink:
