HI I've just installed the Xapt3r 1.6 solderless on my 1.6b motherboard.

The LED's light up o.k. (RED RED ORANGE GREEN BLUE). I've plugged in my Xecuter 3ce when I power up immediately the Xecuter logo (on my switch) turns red, I’ve tried holding the power button for a second to re enable the chip but nothing happens it then just boots straight from the XBOX. I don’t get a Default Bios boot screen. If I press the CDrom eject to power up the Logo turns blue and I just get a blank screen. I've tried resetting the BIOS (Eject + PWR); it turns turquoise and does nothing. Should the 3CE fresh out of the box have a default bios.

I just seems that a 3ce straight out of the box instantly disables when I power it on. I've triple checked my pins out's they seem fine. I haven’t tried updating the bios yet as I am not sure if this is normal.

Any Ideas

You need a quick press of power button to enable the chip. You also need to boot to bank 5-6-7-8 to get flash bios 3.03 (1.6b compatible). Before flashing, remember to change back to bank 1-2-3-4.

Sucessful install

Many thanks for the advice,

I set the banks to 78 (off off on off) and it booted straight into Flashbios 3.0.3.

However i'm a complete novice and am not confident in flashing the bios, i just wanted to put the evo-x m8 bios on.

If i flash using 3.0.3 do i set the dip switches/banks while it is on this mode, then point it to the bios bin file?

are there any step by step guides on how to flash the bios with this type.

I would be gratefull for any advice

Boot to 3.03, then change the bank settings to 1-2 or 3-4. Then flash your M8 bios. Why don't you use an X3 bios? It's the only way to unlock the full features of the chip you just paid for.

Set the dip switches to on,on,off, off, off before you start the flashing process and as adam said use the X3 bios.

Flashing 3ce bios

Thank you again. I believe I will try that one as well. I just want to get used to flashing a bioses.

Reading the 3CE guide it states that I have to set banks 1234 when using the Flashbios for the first time. Sorry if I sound dim. What exactly is meant by this?

As you have a 1.6b, you need to use flashbios 3.03, this is on 5-6-7-8. Once you have booted to flashBios, change back to 1-2-3-4 before flashing your X3 bios. The reason for this is to keep your flshbios 3.03 in case you have problems.

Xcuter 3CE + two bioses

Thanks, that worked great,

If I wanted to flash say the M8 bios as well i.e. two bioses M8 and X3.

Given that I have already flashed 1mb (banks 1234) for the X3 and I have Flash bios 3.0.3 512k (banks 78), this would leave me with 512k left. What switches/bank would I need to set in order flash the M8 bios?

I would flash flashbios 3.0.3 into the backup bios on the chip first then you dont have to worry about keeping it in banks 5678 and can just flash the m8 straight there.

Yeah do what shagga said, then you'll always have flashbios 3.03 just in case.
