need help badly i have a falcon board i have been trying to jtag have been working on this for about three weeks now and am stuck

i got given the console as a rrod wich i repaird for jtag read many tutorials and went aboth making a lpt programmer and dumped a couple of old boards for practice soldering n get everythig working got it sussed so started on the falcon

bare in mind all the way through i CAN still use xell fine gentoo ect linux also works fine

dumped it 3 times compared it with nand healer & nand compare 2/3 matched 100% flashed xell got cpu key and started to make a freeboot image couldnt get that to work so went strait to work on xbr injected kv e.c.t flashed it worked fine installed xex menu then e79
thriedto reflash every way i know over lpt xell xellous debian/xbr flash couldnt get it to work so orderd a nand x ...then tried to flash with that after installing the nandx qsbs not the jtag still no luck . . so went for alternate jtag/ smc points tutorial with update my smc ect this time i got christmas tree lights wen i flashed a freebot image but still nothing

now i am stuck i am pretty sure my soldering is ok as xell still boots but if anyone could help it would be much appreciated

sounds like bad block on nand that needs moving. after block 50.

because your using lpt, do this

flash xell then xellous

flash back your kv

once xellous is loaded look at the tfpt address, put this in firefox and dump the full image

flash back your original 50 blocks to the new full dump that has xell

this will give you a full image open it up in 360 flash tool and it will show where the bad blocks are and what needs moving before you make the fb or xbr image.

have a read of this guide it'll give you the outline http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52765

thanks for the reply ted
yea i thought that it might be bad blocks
i did dump the nand in full three times

i did try to use degraded but i am not sure with the hex
i have read your tut about lpt . but i have a nandx intsalled now is there an easyer way through usb

also i hve the alternate jtag points solderd would it be advisable to remove that and install the original jtag points with the xecuter quick solder board to avoid troublwe with patching smcs ect ( although i have already patced some )

many thanks

Since big ted mentioned it could be bad blocks, you haven't confrimed if you have got bad blocks or not?

Bad blocks are not related to your actual dump it self, but is physical bad memory blocks on the board it self that the console are told not to use and locate the data in alternative blocks/address ...

If I were you I'd leave the alternative JTAG point as it is and concentrate on getting XBR or preferably freeboot to work (the likely hood that you will need to remap bad blocks regardless of what JTAG point you use is likely highly).

You can remap your images before or after flashing or after they are flashed, it doesn't matter.

If tell us whether you got bad blocks or not and if yes, which and where we then can tell you how to remap these exactly.

Are you using alternative point for both AUDIO_CLAMP & OPEN_TRAY dvd signal?

How did you compile freeboot and did you use a modified smc file when creating freeboot?

yea i followed the tut on this site used both those points

yea i changed the image file to the one that was made in in jtag tool after patching the smc from the same tut

just thought think i dumped the image form the unpached xbr so gonna dump from the patched one and try that

I suspect that most likely you compiled freeboot with the incorrect SMC file. In practice, I used to modify xell smc points and then flash it to the console. Upon successful xell boot, I extract the SMC again from the new xell image and use that to compile freeboot.

Check my signature, download the files and place the falcon.bin file from the SMC folder into the SMC folder in JTAG Tool and try compiling freeboot with it.

edit just downloaded them

put the patched smc in the smc folder jtag tool and got e74 and xell not working either( sure it would if i flashed it without freeboot

this is crazy

What CB does your console have? Are you sure it's exploitable? I can understand if it was giving toy E79 but what the heck is it giving E74 for? That's generally associated with ANA chip, display & audio issues ...

Hmmmm, Don't suppose you got pictures of your install?

In picture IMAG0087 I can't tell but are those 2 wires soldered to the J2D2 point, one across to the DVD and the other one to the AUDIO_CLAMP (are they overlapping each other)?

Also I'm guessing you have switching diodes at the end of each one of those wires before it's solder point?

yea used diodes
the one in the red tape goes to open tray
orange wire goes to aud clamp they cross over

on the jumper i used a 330ohm resistor as the tut said to change the swich to that on the nand x jtag kit is it safe to try just a wire as a jumper with the altrnate points

On mine I just use jumper wire, some people recommend it others don't. For now try it without the resistor. You can try different resistor values later until you find one that works well for you.

You ar not suppose to use a resistor on your jumper just the wire itself unless you are using QSB

well jus removed the resistor and replaced it for a wire still e74 although i only installed the resistor with the alternate jtag points

xell is still working

any more ideas what the problem could be

might install xecuter jtag tomorro see if that helps

post some close up high resolution pics so we can see your soldering again maybe you burned a trace and you might need an alt point or if you are lucky you migh just have to scrape a little of the burnt trace with an xacto knife and rebuild with solder. It depends on you soldering so post some pics so i can tell you wut you need to do

In your first post, you mentioned "dumped it 3 times compared it with nand healer & nand compare 2/3 matched 100%". This means that in one of the three dumps, there was a mismatching block. Which block was this ?
