I checked for continuity again today, all looking good. I'm thinking of trying boxxdr's transistor method so I removed the QSB. I took pictures just to see the J2D2 point traces.. They seem okay to me, I know I burnt them, I just don't want to spend money on soldering stuff that I'm only gonna use a couple of times...

It's this kind of thought process which causes people to damage electronics.

A flux pen will not cost you that much money and will make all the difference.

Ebay item # 270621482844 for example will really help you with what you're doing and really doesn't cost that much when you weigh it all up.

As for using a couple of times - how do you know? Before you attemped this 360, how many times did you think you'd need to know how to solder?

Yea, you have a good point. In any case I just bought a flux pen when I was getting the transistors. Still nothing, I tried installing free60 and I got RRoD on sections 1,2 and 3. I tried getting the error code for the RRod but got back into E79 on the next boot.. Think I'm going to give up soon, thanks for all your help anyway.

^ How about you send it to someone who could Jtag it for you?

I totally agree. I think we're beyond forum help here and the only way forward is to get someone to do it for you.

How much do they charge for flashing a drive over there?

One of the shops closest to me charges $50-60 depending on drive model.

Btw, is it okay to just leave the jtag wiring there? I'll probably update to 12611 dash sooner or later for kinect. The jtag wouldn't trigger any RRoD's would it?

edit: Last ditch effort - used nandpro erase command, and flashed xell again, no more E79 just a flashing light, guess I need to play around with it more...

Screw it, 3 days trying, stupid x-clamp kits make it a bitch to work on the underside of the mobo. Getting all the jtag wires out maybe save it for another console if this one rrod's.. Thanks again for all advice!

edit: The damn thing just shat itself.. I was putting it back into the case, turned it on and 3 RRoD, 0022 error, yup, I broke it...

Hey buddy I just fixed a jtag with the exact same problem. Thanks to the people at XBH for helping me.

Solution: Run a 1n418 switching diode (once normally used to jtag) from J2D2.3 to J2D2.7 with the black line facing 3
