To behonest i dont see why the dash version would matter right now. since we are still at stock nand.

if you get it to start with the coolrunner enabled on the stock nand then we can proceed to the next step. Then the version of the dash would be nice to know.

might sound like a silly question but, what dashboard is it on?

true i forgot about the 14717/14719 so yeah it nice to know its on a lower dash version.

You should still get a flashing green light on the CR provided it's been programmed. If this isn't happening then I'd check continuity between the soldered points and CoolRunner. Make sure it's not set to Slim too!

that was a brilliant idea. apparently the connection between the finger on the QSB board was no longer contigious when testing between it and it looks like R4B24. I re soldered the point a little more liberally. between that and I believe the new path of wires it boots every time.

Thank you everyone btw

as a last question , is there a widely accepted way of securing the wires to the bottom of the board? I believe I'm using painters tape which I expect to hold for all of a day tops and was only using because of it's ease of removal

Alot of people use hot glue but make sure you don't put it on the soldering and try to stay away from caps and resistors. They can be a pain if its ever needing to be removed.

If you decide to apply hot glue to the actual solder points make sure your RGH install is working 100%. Many say nay to this however I like doing it to be 100% safe. On one or two of nearly 100 RGH installs I had to remove wiring with hot glue on the solder point, I simply remelted the hot glue and absorbed it with qtips, then desoldered wire.

I started using hot glue but it's quite messy imo and as said if anything needs to change at any point in the future you risk doing damage to the points, so now I just use electrical tape to cover the points and hold the wires in place, to be honest once the board is back in the chassis and everything is screwed down there really shouldn't be any reason for anything to move so much for it to come loose.

I had once hotglued a over the solder points between a sata cable from the xbox hdd point to a 3.5" hdd, the xbox developed a RROD so needed to be reflowed, upon pre-heating all the hot glue melted and made a right mess which made it even more annoying to resolder over - so only hot glue once you are absolutely certain you won't be need to get back under there!

I use electrical tape. Unless I've done a trace repair and have 100% confirmed it as good, I don't go anywhere near hot glue.
